My wife and I have a thriving primary care outpatient practice and are looking for someone to take the pract! ice over. We intend on joining the State Department to become a "Regional Medical Officer" for the US Embassies abroad as a way to expose our children to other cultures. Our practice is essentially a one person practice that we share so all total we currently work five days a week. We have a very sastisfying practice with wonderful patients, a stable staff that is enjoyable to work with, fully EMR certified and have obtained Meaningful Use certification for the past two years quite easily. We share call with another local practice for a total of nine weekends a year. A typical call weekend is quite light and averages between 2-10 calls the whole weekend. We currently do not admit our own patients to the hospital but rather use the local Hospitalists, but our practice is less than one block from the hospital so it would be easy to see your own patients if you chose. We work with another Internist and her Nurse Practicioner.
I am board certified Family Practice and s! he is board certified Internal Medicine. The practice has morp! hed into a primarily adult (over 18) practice with some adolescents as well. If you are an Internal Medicine Specialist and were uncomfortable seeing patients under the age of 18 it would not be difficult to find a new physicain for those patients under 18. We have a well respected practice and count many of our colleagues as patients. We see between 18-24 patients on average, keep our overhead fairly low and claimed over $300,000 on our income taxes last year for the practice. One person could easily take over the practice or two people could share it as we do.
Our main goal is to be able to take our new job with the State Department while not causing any disruption of care to our patients or to our staff. For that reason we are not asking for any "buy-in" to the practice. If you are the right fit then just come to Chico and enjoy the practice and the surrounding area.
The town of Chico itself is quite unique in that it is a University town (home to Calif! nornia State University, Chico). This provides a lot of rich cultural opportunites and a vibrancy to the downtown area. We are on the edge of the Sierra Nevada foothills so we hardly ever see snow but you can take a quick 15 minute drive and get to snow much of the winter. I was raised in Chico and chose to come back here to live as my wife and I could not find any city or town that could compare with it.
