VA Loma Linda Healthcare System is searching for a geriatrician to work in our Community Living Center. The physician will be responsible for caring for veterans who ! are enrolled in one of our CLCÂ's programs: hospice, dementia, rehabilitation, or skilled nursing (e.g., IV antibiotics, wound care, TPN, etc.). Candidates must be board certified in internal medicine. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a geriatric medicine fellowship and are board certified in geriatric medicine.
Work Schedule: Full Time
The applicant selected for this position may be eligible to apply for an education loan reimbursement award under the provisions of the Education Debt Reduction Program.
Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.

Qualifications & Evaluations
EDUCATION: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: (1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges or the year in which the degree was granted; (2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted; (3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Te! rritory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the district of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure; (4) for residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required.
LICENSURE AND REGISTRATION: Physicians (Except Residents). Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or commonwealth of the United States, or in the district of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. The facility Director may waive this licensure requirement if the physician is to serve in a country other than the United States and the physician has licensure in that country.
Residents: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia before the second year of V! A residency, or meet any licensure, registration or other equivalent re! quirements established for residents of non-VA hospitals with which the VA facility is affiliated for training purposes. The resident must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS: Heavy Lifting, 45 lbs and over; Moderate carrying, 15-44 lbs; Straight pulling; Pulling hand over hand; Pushing; Reaching above shoulder; Use of fingers; Both hands required; Walking; Standing; Both legs required; Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; Near vision correctable at 13: to 16: to Jaeger 1 to 4; Both eyes required; Depth perception; Ability to distinguish basic colors; Abilty to distinguish shades of colors; Hearing (aid permitted) Must meet the physical requirements set out in VA Directive and Handbook 5019.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: Physicians, including residents, appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in s! poken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
