Sutter Gould Medical Foundation (SGMF) is a non-profit, multi-specialty health care organization affiliated with Sutter Health. Based in Modesto, SGMF provides quality medical care, health education and research activities in a five-county Central Valley area. SGMF's medical staff includes family practitioners, internists and pediatricians, as well as a range of specialist physicians. Services include imaging, nuclear medicine, a health library, health education programs, occupational medicine, cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes education, nutrition counseling, infertility counseling, weight management. Position Summary: Provides direct oversight for the operations of the Medical Transcription department. This position is responsible to ensure proper training for staff to achieve excellent customer service and technical expertise when transcribing and editing raw clinical dictation into complete and accurate medical documentation that meets clinical standard for medical language documentation. Responsible for dictation statistics, dictation auditing and review, and meeting monthly Foundation goals. Ensure proper staffing for department on a daily basis. This position works collaborative with the other Sutter Health affiliates in collaboration with technical builds and standards. Provides oversight of department workload volume and engages outside vendor for additional support while ensuring financial metrics are not negatively impacted. Enforce the proper use of standard operating policies, procedures, and protocols by department staff. Compiles reports and other information to be distributed to upper management for analysis. Maintain professionalism, courtesy, and confidentiality at all times. Maintains excellent communication links between the Medical Transcription department and other internal departments. Responds to escalated physician inquiries. Research, responds, and address issues regarding quality concerns, distribution of work, etc. Work as a team to achieve Transcription and organizational goals in order to provide quality patient care.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma required.
Associate degree in business or an equivalent combination of education and pertinent /directly related experience (4 years).
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) yearsâ experience in the ambulatory medical setting is required.
Prior experience as a medical transcriptionist is preferred although not required.
Prior experience leading people is required.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of medical office workflow's and processes.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of computers and their applications.
Knowledge of electronic medical records.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including WORD, EXCEL, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Understanding and application of following standard work; creating, training, and auditing.
Basic understanding of the process improvement cycle using A3 thinking and PDSAs
Special Skills/Equipment:
Proven leadership skills are required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language are required.
