Primary Care Physician

Position Overview The Department of Medicine at Alameda County Medical Center is seeking a General Internist to join the Primary Care Division.
Essential Duties
- Provide medical care to patients in the Highland Hospital Adult Medicine Clinic
- Teaching and supervision of residents during their continuity clinics. Supervise physician assistants and nurse practitioners
- Provide residency teaching conferences during the Primary Care Didactic sessions, noon conferences, and Grand Rounds
- Participate in residency committees including the Residency Review Committee
- Interview applicants for the Primary Care Training program
- Participate in medical staff committees and activities
- Participate in quality improvement activities at the Highland Adult Medicine Clinic, including training and implementation of an Electronic Health Record
- Primary Care Division activities, including establishing policies, developing improvement activities, peer review programs and evaluation
- Board certification or eligibility for certification in Internal Medicine
- Valid California Medical License
- Professional clinical experience in primary care medicine
- Interest in medical education and residency teaching
- Commitment to improving medical care for the underserved
- Interest in developing models of care that are team-based, promote continuity, and improve quality of care
- Interest in clinical research
- Potential for growth in administrative responsibilities
- Language in addition to English preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
