VCA Bay Area Veterinary Specialists is seeking a board certified or residency trained Veterinary Neurologist to join our collegial tea! m of specialists and emergency doctors on the sunny side of the San Francisco Bay Area!
VCA Bay Area Veterinary Specialists is a large, multi-specialty, 24-hour referral practice located in a state-of-the-art facility in San Leandro (just 15 miles south of Berkeley) in the East Bay. The hospital is well established in the community with Internists, Cardiologists, and Oncologists as well as, a Surgeon and a Dermatologist.
As you would expect, with all these specialists, we also have all the latest “toys†(diagnostic, therapeutic and monitoring) that are needed to support them including a linear accelerator, C-Arm, CT, and DR. Our sister hospitals, San Francisco Veterinary Specialists and Animal Care Center, both have full-time Neurologists with MRI 1.5 T at ACC and the same magnet type coming soon in May at SFVS! Our neurologist would have access to MRI and our goal is to share these resources and more in order to provide optimal patient care and cuttin! g edge diagnostic capabilities!

Skills and Qualifications
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university.
Residency training with board eligibility or certification in Veterinary Internal Medicine/Neurology.
Ability to become! licensed to practice in the state of California.
Professional comportment and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, friendly attitude.
Job Responsibilities
Establish a good rapport with referring veterinarians, including: timely professional and respectful communication; assistance in their professional growth and education through recommendations and interaction on referred and shared cases; ongoing development of a positive and professional working relationship; participation in Continuing Education involving the local referral community.
Assist in the development and training of the paraprofessional team to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.
Assist with marketing the services of the specialty practice through a variety of outreach programs, some of which include: making hospital visits to referring veterinarians, assisting with local CE meetings, answering! all calls from referring veterinarians promptly, helping with producti! on of hospital newsletters and case reports.
Assist with the training of interns and residents, under the guidance of the Medical Director.
Positively represent the hospital and VCA in the professional community and to the general public.
